Wealthy Thinking: Excerpt from 80 Proven Ways

If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!

This excerpt, written by yours truly, comes from 80 Proven Ways to Become a Millionaire 80 Proven Ways to Become a Millionairewhich SG&A Productions copublished.

The catalyst for this excerpt came from an evening around my dining room table when a group of friends were chatting about beliefs about money. One lady said she had been told repeatedly that “Money was dirty” and most of her life she had struggled to have enough money. I shared that I was raised with the belief that “If the Doctor had more, the minister had less.” Guess whose dad was a minister. (big grin)

And then another lady, who had always had plenty of money said, “My dad always told me that money grew on trees. And when I told him I couldn’t see the money growing, he said that it happened at night while I was sleeping.”

Enjoy!

Investment Atlas Wins Finance Category in 2009 Next Generation Indie Book Awards

Investment Atlas

I am so happy to announce that Investment Atlas by Kenneth G. Winans received five top honors  in the 2009 Next Generation Indie Book Awards. It was the winner in the Finance category and was a finalist in Best Overall Design, Business, History, and Coffee Table Book.

Ken said, “Winning in 2009 is especially sweet, because of all the great finance books written during these tumultuous times.

Investment Atlas is a reference book disguised as an artistic, colorful, coffee-table includes the performance and characteristics of stocks, bonds, commodities, real estate, and collectibles since 1800.

Cocreating Investment Atlas with Ken was a joyful process. He is an “anal” numbers guy with a great sense of humor.  His collection of old stocks and bonds are used throughout the book. Many thanks to Rik Rice for his design expertise.

Ken’s first book, Preferreds: Wall Street’s Best-Kept Income Secret, was a winner in the Best Book Awards for 2007 by USA Book News.

Make Way for Ducklings

Aloha

Stories draw us in and encourage us to keep reading, to find out the ending. Whether it’s for a book you are self publishing or you are using the story for marketing and publicity, stories work.

This story was written by my dear friend Janet, who lives north of San Francisco. She’s a true angel. Enjoy!

Imagine my surprise yesterday as I went downstairs and noticed a sound, familiar, but out of context. Yes, I’d heard it right; there was a distinct quacking of a female duck, coming from outside. When I opened the front door, the regular, short quacks continued, about one every four seconds. Sure enough, when I ventured out I saw a beautiful duck walking on our pathway towards the garden. She seemed even more radiant when I noticed she was flanked by an adoring entourage of miniscule ducklings, all peeping in chorus in answer to her regularly timed quacks. Welcome! It’s a new beginning.

Aloha,

I’ve been encouraging people I meet and authors I work with to start blogging. To tell their story, to talk about their book, to share their wisdom and their passion. When recently asked about my blog, all I could say was, “Umm, err, umm, well. . . , it’s currently in the process of being built.”

Alrighty then, nothing like a bit of red face to move me forward.

To backtrack just a bit. . .  I interviewed John Kremer and Warren Whitlock about book marketing. Both talked about marketing your book online, whether you self-publish or go with a traditional publisher.

In this day and age, having a presence on the world wide web is necessary and a way of life. Whether you are a book author, a book publisher, a writer, a business person, etc. Yes, that means a website, a blog, and Twitter.

Twitter? What in the world is that?

So I took a day or two (OK more like a week) to explore and learn about Twitter. What I discovered is a true phenomenon. (Will have posts devoted to it later.) In just one short month, I’ve met and connected with some great people all over the world. And found that I enjoy posting “tweets” about all sorts of topics. Twitter is fabulous. . .  and sometime I just want to say more than 140 characters.

So welcome to this blog!

Here you will find my thoughts, opinions, and wisdom on various subjects which interest me. Topics will include (tho not limited to); how to publish your own book, the book creation process, self publishing your book, living in Hawaii, my point of view of life (at 54 yo), and anything else I’m inspired to chat about.

Until next time — “What are the possibilities? Focus there!”
